Hello! My name is, Mitzi Cagle, RN, BSN
My goal with this company, is to practice as a Holistic Nurse, share the Love, Knowledge, and Education in Health and Healing, as I learned through the American Holistic Nursing Assocation.
This is my spiritual path, and I am finally following it....I hope you with take the journey with me.....as we grow, thrive, and work together toward improving our health. and improving our environment !
We can work together and grow as equal members of the Human Race!
I have a diverse medical background:
I have been a Medical Assistant, a Paraprofessional for Anatomy and Physiology Lab at Arapahoe Community College, A Nursing Degree as a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Colorado Health Center School of Nursing in Denver, Colorado
I have worked as a nurse as a ICU nurse, a ER nurse, and most recently a Nursing Instructor for an LPN Nursing School as a classroom instructor, tutor and clinical/lab instructor, and now I am working on my own as a Holistic Nurse with my own Company: Complementary Health Enhancement, LLC
Now, a glance into the past.......
I became a Medical Assistant in 1973, when I was a teenager, I planned to eventually become a doctor...as many of us, my plans changed when I became a mother!
During my education at I was lucky enough to be asked to be an Anatomy and Physiology Paraprofessional, which I did for 5 years......I still find the Human Body as facinating then,as I do now!
I graduated, Suma Cum Laude, from University of Colorado Health Sciences Center School of Nursing, with a Bachelors of Science Degree.
I graduated , at 45, while raising 3 teenagers and going through a divorce. I tell all of this to you, because if you have a goal you really want to achieve, you can achieve it, YOU ARE NEVER TOO OLD!!....if I can do it, anyone can!
At the same time I was attending UCHSC, I also started in the Certificate Program in Holistic Nursing. I had completed Phase I and II, when I was ask to represent the American Holistic Nursing Assocation with the People to People Program to a trip to India.
Thank you, CU School of Nursing, for making honor possible. The school allowed me to use this, amazing blesssing, as my Independent study credit while going to Nursing School.
My Holistic area of study was in vibrational therapy though, music and sound. I have attended a number of Sound Colliquiums and taken classes from many visionaries, who studied the ability of cellular vibration and it's effect on health and healing.
My first job, after graduating from CU School of Nursing, was as an Intensive Care Nurse. (FYI) For nursing students that are reading this, I would not suggest going directly into the ICU right out of Nursing school, unless you want to jump straight into a stressful life and death situation as a nurse. If I had it to do over, I would have done at least one year of Med/Surg. before going into an Intensive Care.
The few patients, I was lucky enough to utilize music and sound on, after permission from the family and doctors, I saw a some positive signs that the patients' stress response was decressed. These patients were on ventilators and had central lines that monitor their vitals signs, (Blood Pressure, Pulse, Respiration or how often the ventilator had to assist in breathing).
Although, I was not allowed to do it on very many patients due to the fear of the spreading of infection and other ICU protocols, I did in no way have any results that can prove on a statistical level that it helps. What I can tell you is, on the few I did use this therapy on, they did better.
I share this information with you, because if you have a loved one that is so ill that they are on a ventilator, unable to talk, and sometimes restrained, if you know their favorite music, bring it in for them. If you do not know what they like, use music that has soft, nature sounds that would make you feel relaxed and at peace.
As, a nurse, and as a family member, when we have loved ones this ill and in this position, it is a simple thing we can do that may make their experience less stressful.
THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF BEING A PATIENT ADVOCATE FOR YOURSELF AND FOR YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS THAT NEED TO BE USED MORE IN THE TRADITIONAL MEDICICAL SETTING!
Rest of history to be continued.....off to Health Rhythms Training!
